I know, I've disappeared for a while in this dairy posting business. I
would like to make it up so this entry is going to be...terribly long.
Hahaha, so don't waste ur time reading it and then wanting to throw a
can at me for consuming ur precious time. :P
Anyways,
other than having another terrific "man-encountering" story, my spring
break was great (3/26-4/16). I spent two weeks in Italy
(Urbino->Mosciano->Barletta/Canosa/Bari->Avigliano->Napoli->Palermo->Agrigento->Siracusa->Catania)
and about one week in Austria (Vienna->Salzburg). It was certainly
tiring moving from cities to cities, but I really enjoyed it especially
the meeting old friends part.
I couldn't forget how my
friends' responses were when they saw me without knowing that I was
coming back after one year. Some of them were speechless for a while,
and some of them screamed out the moment when they saw me. It was
great~ Walking in the city that I had spent a year studying abroad in
reminded me of a lot of good old memories. The best thing was that
everything seemed to remain the way it was a year ago, which was very
sweet coz it made me feel as if I had never left.
I
decided to travel south this time so that I could spend sometimes with
my friends that I hadn't seen for a year. They were all so nice and
hospitable. They all tried to feed me well(which made me gain 2 kgs in
10 days =__=) and bring me to explore the essence of the cities.
Grazie, Annalii,Ambra(/Francesco),Carmen,Alfonso,Dani, e le vostre famiglia! My trip wouldn't be the same without u guys.
Then,
in Austria I also had a friend Martina. Even though we just met for a
lunch but it was still nice. It's ideal to have a local person as ur
guide coz they know the city well and they know what the local
specialty is so that u don't need to spend all these extra times trying
to figure out what things u have to try or see.
Ok, I am not
going into details about my trip coz it will take me years to key in
the details, but I will give u the details about the horrible man I met
in Agrigento, Sicily since he scared the heck out of me.
So, I
met this Japaense girl on the train on my way from Palermo to
Agrigento. We decided to sightsee the city together. After spending a
nice afternoon together she needed to go back to Palermo. Thus I walked
her to the train station and waited along with her for her train to
come.
Here came the protagonist of this story. He was a man
who's about 45 yrs old. He started a conversation with us by asking us
where we were from. Since my friend doesn't speak Italian, I did all
the talking.
At first he seemed just like a normal local who's
interested in these 2 rare Asian tourists who appeared to be in his
town. But then he started to say something like "Oh~too bad that u
girls came just now. If u have come earlier, you can stay in my house
and I can show u around the city. Oh can I offer u girls something to
drink?" I was like..uh no it's fine n thank u. And when he knew that I
am coming back to the UK after that trip he even asked "So can I visit
u if I go to UK? Do u want to take my number?" I started to feel weird
so I lied to him about going back together with my friend to Palermo,
hoping that he would stop bothering us. And he did. He left with a
disappointed face yet I was released.
After my friend left, I
wanted to walk around city centre which is right next to the station,
so as I was walking near this tiny park, I SAW HIM again! "NOOOOOOOO!
Oh my gosh!" I started to run. Unfortunately he saw me and was running
after me calling my name. Then I got caught at this dead-end corner of
the park.
He:"What happened? The train left? You are by yourself now?" Then he gave me his hand as if he wanted to take my hand.
I didn't even bother to answer, I just started to run again away from him.
So
I ran down to this side road above the train station, and I sent a txt
msg to my friend telling her about this sick man I met. When I was just
trying to recover from the shock, suddenly I heard somebody calling my
name, I turned around, it was him AGAIN! And this time he was with his
car! He got off from his car and was eagerly walking towards me. I
quickly walked to the opposite direction where there were some
pedestrians walking and just kinda walked behind them so at least I was
not literally by myself. I thought my act of keep running away from him
should send him the signal of "Leave me alone!"
He disappeared
for a good 3 mins. I thought that was it. I ran into the residence area
above the side road that I was at, knowing that it would be hard for
him to drive his car up into the narrow alleys. When I ran, I also
looked down to the road, hoping that I would not have to see his
disgusting face again. Then, to my utmost fear, there he was with his
car down on that road with his eyes gazing at me. When he saw me
looking at him, he soon turned his car into the alley.
Ahhh!! I
started to run as fast as I could, trying to find an alley that was
very narrow that his car could not get in at all. But since I didn't
know the area well, several times I ran into dead-end alleys and it
scared me to death. I was afraid that what if he gets me? He could do
whatever to me . Praying and running, I got to a plaza where there were
some people. And after a while, I used all my courage to rush back to
the train station area and dashed back to my B&B.
This man
was so SICK!!! WHAT THE HECK DID HE WANT? I said no no no already but
he just didn't get it..Sigh.. And because that day was Easter, so all
the restaurants were closed. My heart was throbbing, and my stomache
was hungry, it became the worst Easter that I ever had in my life. But
thank God I was safe.
Yeah, don't ask me why I kept encountering all these wackos, I wish I knew why.
